About Louise Stidham Photography

Hi there! Welcome to my official blog! Louise Stidham Photography started because of my interest in capturing everything that is special in life.

A simple smile, a relationship blooming, a wedding ceremony and reception, a pregnancy, a child being born, the laughter and tears of holding that tinny little person for the first time, the family photos, birthday parties and celebrations, my life, your life, anything that matters to us. All of those things keep me inspired to create works of art that you will enjoy for years to come.

I believe that {Life is Sweet} and I enjoy being able to go through my photographs and experience my best moments over and over again.

Enjoy your visit to my blog! While here, leave me some comments in your favorite images. If you want to book a session, please contact me. My information is in the About tab. Come back often to view my recent work and stay in touch!

Talk to you soon!

Lauren and Aaron’s Kona Grill Photoshoot | 202 Magazine Featured Couple

February 11th, 2012

This was yet another super sweet couple’s photoshoot I did for the 202 Magazine February featured date stories. I loved that we had the chance to do something different. It is not everyday I get to photograph couples at a sushi restaurant. What a great experience we’ve had! Many thanks to Kona Grill for being so welcoming to us and for preparing some fabulous dishes for our session. Everything was so perfect – AMAZING FOOD – and of course, we cannot go wrong when we have this combination: sushi + great looking couple in Love = fun & fabulous photos. Seriously, if you haven’t read Lauren and Aaron’s story, you can click this link to read it. Why, not? Love is in the air, embrace it! For them, “Wonderful Tonight” Eric Clapton, inspired by my playlist of oldies but always goodies type of songs. Enjoy.

“We go to a party

And everyone turns to see

This beautiful lady

That’s walking around with me”

“I feel wonderful

Because I see the love light in your eyes”

“And the wonder of it all

Is that you just don’t realize

How much I love you”

“As I turn out the light,

I say my darling, you were wonderful tonight”

I still have one more couple to feature. So, come back for more. If you want to book an engagement or couple’s celebration session, please email: info@louisestidham.com or just visit my website “contact” section: www.louisestidham.com .

Amanda and Ryan | 202 Magazine Featured Couple

February 6th, 2012

I couldn’t wait to finish my Economics Homework to be able to come here to the bloggie. For those of you that don’t know yet, I am on what I call my almost last, yes almost LAST class on a MBA program. After this class, I just have to take my capstone course and I will be done with graduate school! I am so excited and trying to stay focused as I approach the finish line so that I can graduate with honors. Well, but let’s move on to the real reason why I am here today.

If you have been following my blog, you know that this month I am determined to share the love with fabulous photo essays of the couples I had the pleasure to photograph for the 202 Magazine’s February issue. To read more about them, you can just click here. So let’s take a look at Amanda and Ryan’s movie theater date photo shoot. And, I do have a theme song for them, this time, “Lucky” by Jason Mraz. Enjoy!

“I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard”

“I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been”

Tomorrow, we will have one more couple. Come back again! :)

Claire and Ryan | 202 Magazine Featured Couple

February 4th, 2012

Claire and Ryan’s story is so touching and real proof that sometimes we look for love everywhere while it has been right in front of us. If you haven’t read about them in the 202 Magazine, please take a moment to check out all of the sweet details of their love connection. My favorite part about meeting them was being able to witness the strong bond this couple has and how much fun they have together.

With the information I had about them provided by Editor-Sondra Bar- 202 Magazine, my goal in designing the concept for their photo shoot was to capture that candid connection in more structure way, incorporating some vintage elements and of course, the “old” photograph of them hugging each other. Since I’ve had Lady Antebellum’s songs playing as I typed this, I felt like “Just a Kiss” would make a perfect background song for these pictures.

“Lyin’ here with you so close to me
It’s hard to fight these feelings when it feels so hard to breathe
Caught up in this moment
Caught up in your smile”

“I’ve never opened up to anyone
So hard to hold back when I’m holding you in my arms
We don’t need to rush this
Let’s just take it slow”

“Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I’ve been waiting for my whole life

“I know that if we give this a little time
It’ll only bring us closer to the love we wanna find
It’s never felt so real, no it’s never felt so right”

“Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch of the fire burning so bright
No I don’t want to mess this thing up”

“I know it’s time to leave, but you’ll be in my dreams tonight”

So glad I’ve met this beautiful couple, Ryan and Claire. Wishing them many, many years of happiness together. Tomorrow I will be featuring yet another couple, Ryan and Amanda because we need to continue sharing the LOVE this month, so come back for more.

I hope you are finding good inspiration in these sessions for an annual couples photo shoot or engagement session. If you would like, feel free to comment, share or pin it but as a reminder, my logo and full credits must always be given as well as a link back to my blog. See you tomorrow!

XOXO

Sharing the Love | 202 Magazine Featured Couple

February 3rd, 2012

I had been wanting to go to Josh Groban’s concert for a loooonnnng time. Finally, last year David (my sweet husband) surprised me with tickets in one of our date nights. I absolutely loved his concert despite all of the grobanites screaming for him..ahah, I was NOT one of them, I was there purely for the music and the concert experience, I enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed when he sang one of my favorite songs “When you say you love me” that I will be quoting throughout this post.  Love is sooo in the air this month so why not spread that amazing feeling!

This month in particular, I have had the opportunity to meet 5 fabulous couple from the East Valley that have some amazing love stories. They are the reason why I have been anxiously waiting for the February issue of the 202 Magazine to come out so that I could grab my copy and read their date stories. I met with each one of the featured couples with a brief background information  in order to create images that were a good representation of their first date. Since we’ve had some “bonus” images, I decided that I will be blogging about them separately. Perfect, since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and these series of postings I will be doing can also serve as a good inspiration for a couples/engagement photoshoot! So, let’s begin with this adorable couple Janee and Dan Pousson (to read more about them visit the 202 Magazine website). If you have some favorites, you can “PIN IT” for inspiration.

“When you say you love me
The world goes still so still inside “

Janee and Dan Pousson

“And this journey that we’re on
How far we’ve come and I
Celebrate every moment
When you say you love me
That’s all you have to say
I’ll always feel this way”

“When you say you love me
The world goes still, so still inside
When you say you love me
For a moment, there’s no one else alive”

“Like the sound of silence calling
I hear your voice and suddenly I’m falling
Lost in a dream
Like the echoes of our souls are meeting”

“You say those words, my heart stops beating
I wonder what it means
What could it be that comes over me
At times I can’t move
At times I can’t hardly breathe”

Did you know we have a Valentine’s Day giveaway going on right now? There’s no cost to enter and you can win 4 fabulous prizes from Pumpernickel and Wry boutique. Click here to Enter Our giveaway! Come back tomorrow to get to know another couple, Claire and Ryan Holland!

Beautiful Gift Ideas AND Valentine’s Day Giveaway

January 24th, 2012

I am super excited to introduce you to one of my preferred vendors. Carrie, a small town, artsy, country girl who somehow ended up in the suburbs of a big city. A proud teacher, mommy, and wife that have found a way to channel her creativity into her home (you should see her galvanized steel and doily bed!) and also into a small business where she applies her knowledge and passion for vintage and antique items. She is the busy owner of two amazing Etsy shops: Pumpernickel and Wry an up cycled repurposed vintage plated store and Desert Blooms where she sells bridal fascinators, bouquets and a bunch of girly fabric flower goodness.

At Pumpernickel and Wry, Carrie finds silver plated flatware and trays that are old, blackened with tarnish, and unloved. She spends a lot of time polishing them up to get them ready for their new life and she gets really happy to be able to repurpose and up cycle these imperfect items into beautiful and functional pieces. Like the one below- that I LOVE- (Amour  De Ma Vie/ Love of My Life).

Silver plated flatware is hand-stamped (and she literally does that letter-by-letter with a steel stamp, anvil, and a sledge hammer) with words and sayings, some as simple as his/hers, and other more elaborate, cute, and inspirational sayings. Carrie is so proud to offer truly unique wording on her silver plate flatware that  as she says “you will not find at other Etsy stores.” According to her, “silver plate trays take forever to polish up, but once done, they are beautiful!” I have to agree on that, I love her work!

One of this friendly Etsy shop owner’s passion is to do custom orders, as she shared “sometimes these cute sayings make it into my shop on a permanent basis…who can resist the “Dessert/Further Testing Required” fork and spoon combo? Yep, that came from a buyer!”  That is not all, Carrie also believes that “customer service is the backbone to the success of any business” and “I maintain 100% satisfaction with my customers…because I make sure I am honest and upfront about my items and I do whatever I can to make the buying experience a positive one!”

When asked about her other store, Desert Blooms, she described how her store has transformed over time into a bridal and special event shop. She has made Derby hat/fascinators, bridal birdcage veils, and really gorgeous bridal bouquets. She finds it “really fun” to get that photo back showing the Derby hat worn at the Derby, and the wedding photos…as she says “I love to read the food blogs from some of my buyers and to see my silverware featured in their photos” and ”It is so amazing to have a small part in someone’s biggest event!” Look at this beautiful flower clip below from her Desert Blooms shop as photographed by Anwen Elizabeth Photography

It is hard not to notice Carrie’s passion about her products and eagerness to share that with her clients. She has so many ideas for the use of her products.  She gave some great ideas about how one can use her products: silver flatware often makes it onto the wedding cake table and the silver chalkboard trays are often purchased for weddings, but are also really popular to just set in the kitchen for family notes. The silver spoons are wonderful, personalized gifts. Many are bought for Valentine’s Day/Love gifts, hostess gifts, home decorating gifts for the “chef” in your life, or just special keepsake gifts. All images featured in this contest were provided by Pumpernickel and Wry’s boutique owner, Carrie.

Please don’t forget to visit Carrie’s shop and take a look at all of her wonderful products:Pumpernickel and Wry and Desert Blooms. Happy Looks Good on This Little Guy! Gilbert Child Photographer

January 20th, 2012

A couple of days ago met with this adorable little man, Cooper, to celebrate his 9-month old milestone with a photo shoot.  I brought some accent props to our session including my “famous” flags and balloons to create a little set that would be entertaining for him. And what a fabulous time we had! Cooper absolutely loved the balloons as you can see by the cutest expressions he had in these photos.

If you think this post won’t get any more adorable than this, wait until you see the next photos of this cutie. Grab, grab, grab the red balloon!

I have always loved photographing babies and children. One thing I always try to do is let them have fun during the session even if we are doing a more formal session. We basically have one hour of playtime while the props and the location are just the foundation for the fun. I adore the photos of Cooper exploring his surroundings like the ones below.

What a cute smile he had when he spotted his mommy singing for him!

Seriously, happy looks good on this little guy. So glad I got to capture these moments for his proud parents. When I look at these images I think they would look amazing on a canvas gallery wrap collection. Gotta display this sweet boy’s photos because he is simply adorable!

Personal Branding: Managing Your Image

January 16th, 2012

Over the weekend, I came across a very useful article about personal branding by Marc Cenedella, CEO  & Founder of one of my favorite career website, The Ladders.  He explained that “building your personal brand is about understanding how you want your professional life to be seen by others.” He added that after that you have to begin“managing your presence in both offline and online worlds towards that end.” This is a fantastic reason to take a closer look at the pictures you have online  and add a professional headshot to your personal portfolio.

Adding a professionally done photo to social network sites is just another great way to showcase your own style in a more structured way.  This is considerably important now that so many employers are connecting with candidates through those sites. It pays off to invest in professional photos but that is not all.

Other things that you can do improve your online presentation besides professional headshots:

  • Search Engine: Have you ever tried running a name search of your own name? Try this and you will be surprise at what you may or may not find.
  • Once you find your information on the Web, you will need to manage what is out there. That will require setting privacy filters in websites you visit frequently and removing information you don’t want to be viewed. There are even a number of companies that can help you removing unwanted online information.
  • What if I can find anything? That’s a question that has been lingering with me. I don’t know the right answer but my personal opinion is that nowadays having some online presence is helpful depending on what you make available to the public eye and the type of career you have.  I would be curious to hear what my readers have to say about this topic.

So, the key action word for you to begin boosting your presence on the Web is “managing.” Take a moment to manage your information and take control of your online life. Don’t forget to update those headshots! To book a session, please call (480) 235-8569 or email info@louisestidham.com.

Father & Daughter Super Sweet Portraits | Gilbert Family Photographer

January 11th, 2012

Emma’s dad, Matt, contacted me to do a father & daughter portrait session and some exclusive portraits of his sweet little darling as well. When we met for our shoot I had a fabulous time with this family. At the end of our session,  Matt  was so kind to tell me that “it was fun” and that I would be seeing him again next year. He absolutely made my day with such nice words even before he saw his photos. Well, it didn’t stop there, once he received his digital files, he sent me a text with a picture of the collage he had put together with the images I captured. Wow, again another smile on my face.

I absolutely love these super sweet moments. I hope you will enjoy them too.
